A Summer Day of Food, Fun & Festivities

Whether you’re staying nearby in one of our Wellies & Windbreaks cottages or just looking for a brilliant day out, here’s everything you need to know about this flavour packed local event.

What Is the Sausage & Cider Festival?

The Sausage & Cider Festival is a touring event that’s made its way across the UK, drawing crowds with its simple yet irresistible theme: the best local and national sausages, served up alongside craft and traditional ciders of every variety. This summer, it returns to Chichester for a one day extravaganza that promises live music, great food, dancing, and a very happy crowd.

Expect street food stalls, cider tasting bars, a party atmosphere, and plenty of space to relax, roam, and feast.

When & Where?

📍 Westgate Fields (Chichester College)
📅 Saturday 27th July 2024
🕐 Multiple sessions (day and evening options available)

This central location is just a short drive or taxi from West Wittering, making it an easy day out for anyone staying along the coast.

What’s On the Menu?

As you might expect, the food is front and centre. You’ll find sizzling sausages from all over the country—Cumberland, Lincolnshire, pork and apple, spicy chorizo, vegan brats and even currywurst. Many vendors offer loaded buns, sausage platters and unique pairings with slaws, pickles and sauces.

When it comes to drinks, you can sample a range of craft, sparkling, cloudy and fruit ciders. From classic dry blends to quirky flavours like rhubarb, toffee apple and mango.

And yes, there is lager, wine and soft drinks are all available if cider’s not your thing.

Live Entertainment & Activities

It’s not just about food and drink. The Sausage & Cider Festival is also a full on summer party with:

  • Live Tribute Bands & DJs – From 90s throwbacks to upbeat pop and indie
  • Sausage Eating Competitions – Hilarious and surprisingly intense
  • Garden Games & Chill Zones – Giant Jenga, bean bags, and shaded areas to relax
  • Independent Vendors – Great for picking up local treats or a quirky souvenir

Is It Family Friendly?

The daytime session is usually family friendly, with a relaxed vibe, music at a reasonable volume and plenty of space to sit down with little ones. Children under 18 can attend with an adult, but always check the festival’s official page for specific entry guidance as details may vary each year.

The evening session shifts into a livelier, adults only party atmosphere. Perfect for couples, groups of friends, or grown up getaways.
