East Wittering
A short walk along the beach footpath from West Wittering leads you to East Wittering, a vibrant village with a wide range of shops and restaurants. The beach itself is shingle up by the footpath which then becomes sand as you head down to the sea. At high tide it’s great to watch the waves crashing on the stones then at low tide the beach stretches for a few hundred metres making it a haven for seaside fun and games. Watersports are very popular and all equipment can be bought or hired from Shore Watersports in the village.
The village has a thriving independent retail scene where you can stock up on supplies for your holiday. Munneries and Horrocks both teem with local fruit and veg, there are a few local butchers, Something Fishy sells fresh fish caught locally on a daily basis and you can also buy the daily catch from Bob in his Fisherman’s Hut on the beach at the bottom of Shore Road. Knead is the best bakery in the world…our opinion only but their seeded sourdough is our favourite and their coffee is the best. The village also has a toy shop, a ceramics café, florist, a chocolatiers, Beachcomber gift shop, Jems Nails & Beauty and even a dog groomers so your furry friends can enjoy a pamper on holiday. For a special treat pay a visit to Simon in Candies Sweet Shop.
Some of our favourite restaurants in the village include Drifters which serves great food and has an outdoor area perfect for chilling with a beer or cocktail and a takeaway next door. The Drift In Café serves delicious pancakes, smoothies and coffee and Pecorino does excellent pizza takeaways.
Whilst West Wittering is the area that most people have heard of because of its eponymous beach, East Wittering actually has more to offer in terms of holiday accommodation, with the bonus of having lots of beachfront properties.
